This strange looking antenna is a combination of Coupled-Resonator principle by K9AY and ¼ stubs to achieve low angle radiation pattern. It was designed with 4nec2 NEC based antenna modeler and optimizer for 145/220/440MHz bands . Link to file:OSJ_3B_brass4.NEC

Ferrite bead balun installed.Fine tuned by moving the pipe cap's before soldering them. The horizontal bar is made of 3/4 PVC pipe to hold both elements. Coax cable is routed through mast, made of 1 1/4 PVC pipe.
